Bryan Garey

Bryan Garey is the Assistant Vice President responsible for both HR Consulting Services and Employee Development. With nearly 20 years of human resources experience, Bryan has worked in higher education as well as in nonprofit and corporate sectors. Certified as a Professional in Human Resources with the Society of Human Resource Management, Bryan has been a featured speaker at state, regional, and national conferences in higher education and human resource management. Bryan has a bachelor’s degree from St. Mary's College of Maryland and master’s degrees from the University of Virginia (Fine Arts) and the University of Florida (Management). As a consultant and facilitator, he has worked with individuals and organizations all over the country on strategic planning, assessments, teambuilding, change-management, and other development efforts.

Bryan incorporates mindfulness and yoga into his daily life and has introduced contemplative practices into Employee Development programming available to all U.Va. faculty and staff through the Human Resources Leadership Development Center.
